What is collected,
and what is not

The desktop software

CoinScope Pro running on your PC does not report usage, does not profile you, and does not upload your photographs. Your images and your collection database are ordinary files in folders you chose, on your own disk.

It does talk to us, in exactly these cases and no others:

• License checks. If you have bought a license, the program contacts this site occasionally to confirm it is still valid. That exchange carries your license key and an identifier derived from your computer's hardware. It does not carry your photographs, your collection, or anything about the coins you own.
• ChatGPT and Claude. These are signed-in web views of third-party AI services, which you drive yourself. If you choose to send a picture to one, it goes to that service under that service's own terms, exactly as it would in a browser. Nothing is sent unless you do it.

Two features use a model that runs locally, on your own machine, with no network involved: the depth map and the super-resolution upscale. They are listed inside the program as well, so the word AI never appears somewhere you were not told about.

This website

Analytics, including session recording

This site runs its own analytics rather than handing visitors to a third-party advertising network. It records pages viewed, referring site, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and how long a visit lasted.

It also records session replays. This captures how a visitor moved through a page - scrolling, mouse movement, clicks - so layout problems can be found. It is the most intrusive thing this site does and it is named here first for that reason. Keystrokes in form fields are not the purpose of the feature, and payment details are handled entirely inside the payment provider's own frames, which the site cannot see into.

Session replay only happens if you say yes. On your first visit a banner asks. Until you press Accept, nothing is recorded beyond the page counts above, no device fingerprint is taken, and nothing is stored in your browser to recognize you next time. If you press Decline, that is remembered and you are not asked on every page. You can change your mind at any time with the Privacy choices link at the bottom of every page.

Downloads of the program are served from Cloudflare. Each download request is logged with its IP address, approximate location and browser so that downloads can be counted and misuse of download links can be stopped.

Separately, crawlers and bots are identified and logged so genuine visits can be told apart from automated ones.

If you buy something

An order collects your name, email address, billing address, and what you bought. That is kept because it is an order record, and because you may need support or a refund on it later.

Card details never reach this site. Payment is handled by the provider you choose, and the card number is entered into their systems rather than into this one. The providers currently enabled here are Stripe, which also powers the Link and Amazon Pay options, and PayPal. Each is an independent controller of the data you give it, under its own privacy policy.

License keys

A purchase issues a license key tied to your order, and the site records which machines it has been activated on so the activation limit can be enforced and so you can move it yourself when you change computer.

Email

Transactional email - order confirmations, license keys, replies to a question you asked - is sent because you bought something or wrote to me. If marketing email is ever sent, it will be because you asked for it separately, and every message will carry a one-click unsubscribe.

Personal replies I send from support@coinscopepro.com ask your mail program for a read receipt and include a tiny image that records when the message is first opened, so I know it arrived. Nothing else is collected by it, and your mail program's setting to block images turns it off.

Support chat

The chat widget on this site connects to a Facebook Page. Conversations through it happen on Facebook's platform and are subject to Meta's privacy policy as well as this one. If you would rather not use Facebook, email works and reaches the same person.

Cookies

Cookies are used to keep a shopping cart between pages, to keep you signed in if you have an account, and, only if you accepted session recording, by the analytics described above to tell a returning visit from a new one. That last one is kept in your browser's storage rather than a cookie. There is no advertising network setting cookies here.

Who else sees any of this

The processors involved are the ones named above: the payment providers, the web host that runs the server, and Meta if you use the chat widget. Nothing is sold, and nothing is handed to advertisers or data brokers.

Your rights over it

You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Order records that have to be kept for tax and accounting purposes are the one thing that cannot simply be erased on request, and that limit applies to every shop, not just this one.

If you are in the UK, the EU, or a US state with its own privacy law, those rights are yours under that law and they are honoured regardless of where you are writing from.

Children

This is software for adults who collect and deal in coins. It is not directed at children and accounts are not knowingly created for them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the change is described rather than slipped in.

Getting in touch

Privacy questions, data requests and complaints all go to the same place, and they reach a person rather than a queue.
